Globalizaton

Globalization: This term is hard for me to wrap my mind around. However, after reading the article I have a better picture of the meaning behind the word. To me globalization is the idea of expanding ideas from a small concept and enhancing those ideas to a bigger market. Globalization is an important idea to keep the world moving forward. The article stated. "In the span of a century, the economic driver has shifted first from agriculture, then to manufacturing, and now at the beginning of the 21st century, to information." No the world has to act on the idea of Globalization to keep on moving forward.

The article discussed ideas of how to make field of assistive technology more globally known. Also, how the world market has changed in improving large and small businesses. These businesses are forced to be creative and inventive when trying to sell their products across the world market. In the article it touched on how using the web and 2.0 tools and how using those sources has created a "multibillion dollar industry." Ultimately, this article was showing how companies are reaching out to the world market to sell there products.

My reactions towards this article are relatively positive. I like the idea that companies are expanding their markets and are trying to be inventive to reach the population. However, I think it is a disadvantage for smaller businesses who have to compete against huge, popular corporations.  For example companies trying to sell mp3 players are not getting as many products sold as the Apple Corporation. I would assume that it is challenging and frustrating for these smaller companies to be as successful as other stronger corporations. In conclusion I believe that globalization is a stepping stone to the future and is helping society become more tech savy!
